Breast Cancer Care is a charity close to our… well, bosoms and over the Spooky weekend we decided to pull together as a team and raise some cash for a good cause.
A few highlights of a great and ghoulish weekend:
The Human Race 2K Trick or Treat run in Richmond Park
(Our Dad Writer says) ‘This wasn’t so much a test of speed but of us getting our collective little ones to waddle or toddle the 2K course. Sunday morning was lovely and foggy – great for convincing them that there were monsters in the woods – and the event was really well organised, lots of dressed up runners panting back from having completed the 10K or 5K courses, but our race was full of similar minded parents (one dressed as a giant pumpkin with his adorable daughter on his head as the pumpkin stalk) and there was lots of encouragement all ’round. The race began with a warm up to ‘Thriller’ (c’mon, who wasn’t dying to do the dance?) and then off we went along the course, past spooks and zombies – til we finally made it to the finish line with a choice of Tricks or Treats (guess which my kids went for…?). My boys really loved doing it and took their medals to school the day after to proudly show off. We’d definitely recommend it – a good way to work off the Halloween candy and Richmond park is a beautiful setting…
Halloween Baking Contest
Congrats to Saskia on this one… How fab were her cakes?
A big thanks to Home Bargains for helping us out with Halloween decor and costumes for the children (and dogs!). We especially loved the plastic spiders (pictured here in champagne glasses) and the hilarious witchy talking doorbell – all very reasonably priced to buy and good value. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook for product news/offers.
