A Harvest festival in your bathroom…

Whilst seasonal produce might conjure up thoughts of a hearty casserole rather than a bathroom pampering session, we’ve found some lovely Autumnal beauty picks with unexpected ingredients…

Noble Isle: if you haven’t yet discovered this range, do check it out as an Xmas pressie option for those difficult to shop for relatives… With a range of quirky yet quintessentially English fragrances, each of the products is inspired by a British region and supports the local countryside produce. We love the Fireside bodywash, with an extremely classy aroma that takes its essence from – believe it or not – beetroot (!) and the deliciously fruity Rhubarb Rhubarb shower gel, with a sherbetty top note and a really addictive base.

Rhubarb Rhubarb comes as a candle also – a lovely bathroom addition.

Nelson’s Rosehip Oil: apparently the wonder oil behind Kate
Middleton’s pregnancy glow, this hedgerow gem is great for dry skin, scars, psoriasis, stretch marks… Rub it into skin that just needs a bit of de-Winterization…

Proto-col Make up range: packed with natural ingredients, this is make up you don’t need to feel guilty about applying. The powder foundation (available in three shades) gives light coverage with with a brush or a dab it on with a sponge for a silky base. Key ingredients include Green Tea, Rosemary and Lavender – so it is antioxidant and also calming (who can say that about their make up?). Match up with one of proto-col’s Vanilla Bean lippies, packed with tangerine oil, nourishing Shea Butter and long-lasting pigment – we loved the spicy nude ‘Cinnamon’ shade for an Autumn chic look.

School Run Superheroes

This week our tester tried out Phytacol’s Phytaoil.

The lowdown: Phytaoil is made with rose hip oil and extract plus lavender, lime, geranium and Vitamins A and E to help heal stretch marks, treat dehydrated skin and treat scars. it comes in an easy to use spray bottle.

Our SM tester says: ‘OK, so my stretch marks aren’t actually ON display for the school run, but at the mega gruelling Pilates class I seem to have signed myself up for they most definitely ARE. And it isn’t pretty. When I was first asked to test this product I thought about taking a ‘before’ shot, but the sight was so horrible I decided against it. But three weeks later I wish I had because the really have nearly faded! The product is really easy to use, I just spray a bit on after the shower and rub it in, it’s not greasy at all so you can get dressed straight away. I’ve also been using a little on my face under make up for a dewy finish and also on my feet at bedtime which is a lovely treat and you wake up with super soft tootsies…The only downside is that now I have realised that my saggy belly is actually flab and not just stretch marks. So back to Bootcamp Pilates for me!’

Editor’s tip: pack this one in your holiday bag as a nourishing after sun treatment…
